Helicopters are one of the aircraft categories Baltimore Jet Charter can look into for a trip, alongside the fixed-wing aircraft we arrange to and from Baltimore. The types listed here seat 4 to 8 passengers, with published ranges from 324 to 500 nautical miles. Which one suits your trip depends on the passenger count, the baggage, the distance and the airports at both ends.
Typical Aircraft
The helicopter types listed here are Agusta A109, Bell 407, Bell JetRanger, Bell LongRanger, Eurocopter (Airbus Helicopters) and Sikorsky S-76.
When a Helicopter Fits a Baltimore Trip
Whether a helicopter suits any part of a trip to or from Baltimore depends on where you can land at each end, the weather and what operators in the region can offer on your date. Helicopters suit short flights only, so your advisor checks with those operators before saying whether one fits your plans.
Cabin size, baggage space and range vary across these 6 types, so send us the details and we will narrow the list down for you.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Baltimore-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
BWI Marshall is about nine miles south of downtown Baltimore, owned by the State of Maryland and operated by the Maryland Aviation Administration, and Martin State Airport in Middle River, about ten miles east of downtown, suits Towson and Hunt Valley. There is no jet airport in Annapolis, so jet trips for Annapolis and the Naval Academy usually use BWI, about 17 miles away. Easton Airport serves St. Michaels and Oxford while Salisbury serves Ocean City. Baltimore winters can bring snow and the occasional nor’easter, summer brings afternoon thunderstorms, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th. Late May, with the Preakness and the Naval Academy’s Commissioning Week, the holidays and summer weekends on the Eastern Shore book up first, so tell us your dates early.
