Baltimore Jet Charter arranges private flights and cargo charters for automotive and manufacturing companies in Baltimore and across Maryland, from an executive visiting a supplier to a team of engineers who need to be at a plant first thing tomorrow.
Getting engineers and executives to the plant
Plants and suppliers are often in smaller towns with little or no airline service. On a charter, the aircraft lands at an airport close to the site, and a team can visit more than one location in a day and be back in Baltimore that evening, subject to scheduling and aircraft availability.
Detroit is about 355 nautical miles from BWI, Charlotte about 315 and Atlanta about 485. A turboprop or very light jet covers Charlotte comfortably, and a light jet is a good fit for Detroit and Atlanta. Toronto is about 300 nautical miles away. On an international trip, your advisor and the operator plan where the aircraft clears customs.
Launches, audits and supplier visits
Model launches, plant openings and dealer meetings bring people from several cities to one place on the same day. We can bring a group in from different starting points, and take everyone home again when the event is over.
If your engineers or auditors visit the same suppliers every month, tell us the pattern when you first call. Your advisor can then plan each trip around it, so you are not starting from scratch every time.
Urgent parts and equipment
When a production line is waiting on a part, the next scheduled freight service may be too late. We arrange cargo flights for parts, tooling and test equipment, and we size the aircraft to the load.
Send us the dimensions and weight of each piece, along with the pickup and delivery addresses and the time the part is needed. Your advisor will look for an aircraft with a cargo door and hold that can take it. Some loads fit on a small aircraft, and larger or heavier pieces need a dedicated freighter. Our air cargo page explains how we arrange those flights.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Baltimore-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
BWI Marshall is about nine miles south of downtown Baltimore, owned by the State of Maryland and operated by the Maryland Aviation Administration, and Martin State Airport in Middle River, about ten miles east of downtown, suits Towson and Hunt Valley. There is no jet airport in Annapolis, so jet trips for Annapolis and the Naval Academy usually use BWI, about 17 miles away. Easton Airport serves St. Michaels and Oxford while Salisbury serves Ocean City. Baltimore winters can bring snow and the occasional nor’easter, summer brings afternoon thunderstorms, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th. Late May, with the Preakness and the Naval Academy’s Commissioning Week, the holidays and summer weekends on the Eastern Shore book up first, so tell us your dates early.
