Baltimore Jet Charter arranges retreat and offsite flights for companies in Baltimore, and for teams from other cities meeting on the Chesapeake or the Eastern Shore.
Bringing the team in together
The first session of a retreat goes better when everyone is in the room. When a dozen people book their own airline seats, they arrive at different times through the day. A charter brings the group in on one aircraft, at one time. For a team spread across several cities, we can arrange more than one aircraft and time the arrivals close together.
Close to home, or further away
Close to home, Easton Airport serves St. Michaels, Easton and Oxford, so a team flying in from another city can land on the Eastern Shore near the venue. For a warmer setting in winter, Palm Beach is about 770 nautical miles from BWI and Naples about 825. Denver, about 1,290 nautical miles away, calls for a midsize jet or larger. With a bigger group, your advisor will look at super midsize and heavy jets for any of these trips.
Sizing the aircraft to the group
Most charter flights operate under FAR Part 135, the FAA’s rules for on-demand, for-hire charter. When your total passenger count outgrows a heavy jet and the group consists of more than nineteen passengers, the aircraft required would fall into regional airliner, or airliner-size. These trips would no longer fall under the FAR Part 135 standards but possibly operate under FAR Part 121 or foreign equivalent standards. Part 121 and equivalent generally carry stricter crew and operating requirements than FAR Part 91 and FAR Part 135.
Booking ahead
We do not give firm quotes too far in advance, because aircraft availability shifts. Call early, and we will tell you when it makes sense to lock it in. We arrange specialty in-flight catering as an add-on at an additional fee. Selections are tailored to client preferences and confirmed before departure. For groups larger than a heavy jet can carry, see our VIP airliners page.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Baltimore-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
BWI Marshall is about nine miles south of downtown Baltimore, owned by the State of Maryland and operated by the Maryland Aviation Administration, and Martin State Airport in Middle River, about ten miles east of downtown, suits Towson and Hunt Valley. There is no jet airport in Annapolis, so jet trips for Annapolis and the Naval Academy usually use BWI, about 17 miles away. Easton Airport serves St. Michaels and Oxford while Salisbury serves Ocean City. Baltimore winters can bring snow and the occasional nor’easter, summer brings afternoon thunderstorms, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th. Late May, with the Preakness and the Naval Academy’s Commissioning Week, the holidays and summer weekends on the Eastern Shore book up first, so tell us your dates early.
