Baltimore Family Office Aviation

Baltimore Jet Charter arranges private flights for family offices in Baltimore and around Maryland. We work with whoever handles the family’s travel, whether that is the family office staff, an assistant or a family member, and we arrange both the principal’s business trips and the family’s personal travel.

One advisor for the whole household

A family office already handles property, trusts, legal matters and planning for the next generation. We take the flying off that list. You deal with the same advisor on every trip, and we keep the family’s preferences on file: the size of aircraft they are comfortable in, which airport suits which house, and who usually travels together. When a request comes in, we do not start from scratch.

We are very pet friendly, but not all aircraft owners are. Make sure to let us know about your pet prior to contracting.

The trips a Maryland family takes

The pattern is usually familiar. There are summer weekends at a house near St. Michaels or in Ocean City, Maryland, and spring and fall legs to Palm Beach or Naples, Florida, which a light jet covers comfortably. In late May, families fly in for Commissioning Week at the Naval Academy, and the Preakness at Pimlico falls on Sunday, May 23rd, 2027. We plan these with you as a calendar for the year, so each booking is not a separate conversation.

Privacy for the family

We only share passenger names and itineraries with the operator and the crew assigned to the flight, on a need-to-know basis. If the trip is confidential and requires extra discretion, tell your advisor when you first call, and we will handle it that way from the start.

When the family owns an aircraft

Some families own their own aircraft. When it is in for scheduled maintenance, or becomes unavailable because of a mechanical problem, we can arrange a chartered aircraft for the trip that was planned. It helps to speak with us before that happens, so we already know your passengers and what they expect from the cabin. Our flight department back-up page explains how that works.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Baltimore-Specific Patterns We Plan Around

BWI Marshall is about nine miles south of downtown Baltimore, owned by the State of Maryland and operated by the Maryland Aviation Administration, and Martin State Airport in Middle River, about ten miles east of downtown, suits Towson and Hunt Valley. There is no jet airport in Annapolis, so jet trips for Annapolis and the Naval Academy usually use BWI, about 17 miles away. Easton Airport serves St. Michaels and Oxford while Salisbury serves Ocean City. Baltimore winters can bring snow and the occasional nor’easter, summer brings afternoon thunderstorms, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th. Late May, with the Preakness and the Naval Academy’s Commissioning Week, the holidays and summer weekends on the Eastern Shore book up first, so tell us your dates early.
