Baltimore Jet Charter arranges private flights from Baltimore and the rest of Maryland to the fashion weeks in New York, Paris, London and Milan. We arrange travel for designers, buyers, models, stylists and guests, and often for the collection as well.
New York and back the same day
For designers and buyers in Baltimore, New York Fashion Week is the closest of the major shows. Teterboro is about 155 nautical miles from BWI, a distance a turboprop or a very light jet covers easily. That makes it practical to see a morning show, visit a showroom in the afternoon and fly home that evening. If you are traveling from Towson or Hunt Valley, Martin State can be the easier place to start.
Room for the collection
Garments take up more room than people expect. Rails, wardrobe boxes and trunks of samples can rule out an aircraft, even if it has enough seats for the team. When you send us the dates, tell us how many pieces are coming and how they are packed. Your advisor will then look for an aircraft with the baggage space for the whole load, and the operator will confirm it before anything is booked.
Paris, London and Milan
The European shows call for a long-range jet. London is about 3,140 nautical miles from BWI and Paris about 3,305. Landing permits and authorizations are generally applied for after a trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule. On an international trip, your advisor and the operator plan where the aircraft clears customs. If samples or merchandise are traveling with you, tell us at the start, because goods for sale are handled differently from personal baggage.
The fashion calendar is published well ahead, so it pays to call early. We do not give firm quotes too far in advance, because availability shifts, but we will tell you when it makes sense to lock the trip in. If the collection is going separately from the team, our air cargo charter options may suit it better.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Baltimore-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
BWI Marshall is about nine miles south of downtown Baltimore, owned by the State of Maryland and operated by the Maryland Aviation Administration, and Martin State Airport in Middle River, about ten miles east of downtown, suits Towson and Hunt Valley. There is no jet airport in Annapolis, so jet trips for Annapolis and the Naval Academy usually use BWI, about 17 miles away. Easton Airport serves St. Michaels and Oxford while Salisbury serves Ocean City. Baltimore winters can bring snow and the occasional nor’easter, summer brings afternoon thunderstorms, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th. Late May, with the Preakness and the Naval Academy’s Commissioning Week, the holidays and summer weekends on the Eastern Shore book up first, so tell us your dates early.
