Moving your family and the things that matter most
A move is stressful enough without splitting the family across separate airline flights. On a charter, everyone travels together, along with personal bags and the things you would prefer not to send with a moving truck, such as jewelry, artwork, important documents and family keepsakes. Most clients still send the furniture and the bulk of the household with a moving company, and the flight carries the people and the valuables.
Pets can come too. We are very pet friendly, but not all aircraft owners are, so let us know about your pet prior to contracting.
Choosing an aircraft for the distance and the baggage
We will help you decide which aircraft to use, based on the distance, the number of passengers and how much baggage is coming along. A light jet covers a move to Florida or Chicago. Texas and Denver suit a midsize jet or larger, and the West Coast calls for a super midsize jet. Plan the baggage carefully, because a few large trunks can rule out an aircraft, even if it has enough seats. Some aircraft have taller, wider cabins and larger baggage holds, which makes them better suited to a move.
Moving overseas
A move to Europe calls for a long-range jet; London is about 3,140 nautical miles from BWI. Landing permits and authorizations are generally applied for after a trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule. On an international trip, your advisor and the operator plan where the aircraft clears customs. Entry requirements for your family and your pets are set by the destination country, so start that paperwork early.
Planning ahead
A move takes more planning than an ordinary trip, so call us as soon as you have a moving date. We do not give firm quotes too far in advance, because aircraft availability shifts, but we will tell you when it makes sense to lock it in. If some of the household needs to travel by air as well, we can arrange it separately on an air cargo charter.

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.

Baltimore-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
BWI Marshall is about nine miles south of downtown Baltimore, owned by the State of Maryland and operated by the Maryland Aviation Administration, and Martin State Airport in Middle River, about ten miles east of downtown, suits Towson and Hunt Valley. There is no jet airport in Annapolis, so jet trips for Annapolis and the Naval Academy usually use BWI, about 17 miles away. Easton Airport serves St. Michaels and Oxford while Salisbury serves Ocean City. Baltimore winters can bring snow and the occasional nor’easter, summer brings afternoon thunderstorms, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th. Late May, with the Preakness and the Naval Academy’s Commissioning Week, the holidays and summer weekends on the Eastern Shore book up first, so tell us your dates early.
