Baltimore Jet Charter can look for an aircraft that permits smoking for clients flying out of Baltimore, although far fewer charter aircraft allow it today than in years past.
Most charter aircraft are non-smoking
Whether smoking is allowed on board is decided by the aircraft owner and the operator. Many aircraft do not allow it at all, some allow it on certain aircraft, and some allow it only with the owner’s approval for that particular trip. It can be arranged, but not on every aircraft and not at the last minute.
Tell us before we quote
Upon booking your flight, please let us know prior to the quoting process if this is something you require on your trip. That way, we only look at aircraft that can accommodate it. If it comes up after the quote, we often have to start from scratch, and on a busy weekend the aircraft you wanted may already be booked.
Tell us what you plan to smoke as well, whether cigarettes, cigars, a pipe or an electronic cigarette, because an operator may allow one and not another.
If you need a smoke-free cabin
A non-smoking cabin is the default, so there is nothing extra to arrange. If you have an allergy or a sensitivity to tobacco, or to any lingering smoke smells, mention it when you call, and your advisor will take it into account when comparing aircraft.
Flights abroad
On an international trip, the destination country’s rules on smoking apply on the ground. Tobacco carried into another country also counts toward that country’s customs limits, so ask your advisor if you plan to bring a supply with you. Our FAQ page answers other common questions about flying privately.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Baltimore-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
BWI Marshall is about nine miles south of downtown Baltimore, owned by the State of Maryland and operated by the Maryland Aviation Administration, and Martin State Airport in Middle River, about ten miles east of downtown, suits Towson and Hunt Valley. There is no jet airport in Annapolis, so jet trips for Annapolis and the Naval Academy usually use BWI, about 17 miles away. Easton Airport serves St. Michaels and Oxford while Salisbury serves Ocean City. Baltimore winters can bring snow and the occasional nor’easter, summer brings afternoon thunderstorms, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th. Late May, with the Preakness and the Naval Academy’s Commissioning Week, the holidays and summer weekends on the Eastern Shore book up first, so tell us your dates early.
