Baltimore Jet Charter arranges private flights for technology, software and cybersecurity companies in Baltimore and across central Maryland, from a day of meetings in Boston to a supplier visit overseas.
Trips we arrange for technology teams
Typical trips include investor meetings, customer visits, trade shows and site visits, usually on a date that cannot move. A turboprop or very light jet covers the Northeast and Toronto, and Boston is about 315 nautical miles from BWI. A light jet covers Chicago and Atlanta. Denver and Texas suit a midsize jet or larger, and the West Coast calls for a super midsize jet. Your advisor will match the aircraft to the passengers and bags and send you the options.
Meetings and trade shows overseas
For Europe, you will need a long-range jet; London is about 3,140 nautical miles from BWI. If the trip has several stops, such as supplier visits in Asia, tell us the full itinerary at the start so the aircraft and crew can be planned around all of it. Landing permits and authorizations are generally applied for after a trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule. On an international trip, your advisor and the operator plan where the aircraft clears customs.
Keeping a trip confidential
Some trips are not for anyone outside the company to know about. If the trip is confidential and requires extra discretion, tell your advisor when you first call, and we will handle it that way from the start. We only share passenger names and itineraries with the operator and the crew assigned to your flight.
Hardware and equipment
Teams often travel with demo units, servers or prototypes. Send us the size and weight of each piece when you first call. Smaller items usually fit in the baggage compartment with the passengers’ bags, and larger or heavier shipments may need an aircraft of their own. We can arrange that through our air cargo charter service.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Baltimore-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
BWI Marshall is about nine miles south of downtown Baltimore, owned by the State of Maryland and operated by the Maryland Aviation Administration, and Martin State Airport in Middle River, about ten miles east of downtown, suits Towson and Hunt Valley. There is no jet airport in Annapolis, so jet trips for Annapolis and the Naval Academy usually use BWI, about 17 miles away. Easton Airport serves St. Michaels and Oxford while Salisbury serves Ocean City. Baltimore winters can bring snow and the occasional nor’easter, summer brings afternoon thunderstorms, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th. Late May, with the Preakness and the Naval Academy’s Commissioning Week, the holidays and summer weekends on the Eastern Shore book up first, so tell us your dates early.
